The decathlon called life :The Journey continues
We are what we repeatedly do,waiting ,planning, thinking about doing something is not actually doing it. Many of us intend to do things and never get around to .How can we transition from wishful thinking to action? this is different for everyone but here are a few things that can help you get started:
- Start now, the longer you wait to do something the more likely you are to continue putting it off.
- There is strength in number, find a partner who shares your goal, this will help with accountability when you drop off the wagon that person should serve as encouragement.
- Keep going what ever it is however hard it gets stick it out,if its for the better in the long run Keep Going.
- Remind yourself why you are doing it,we all get discourage and feel uninspired ,so from time to time remind yourself of your goals and your progress.
- Remember that things take time and slow progress is better that no progress.
I hope this was helpful.Until next time ......

Team Natural
Sixteen months ago I embarked on this natural hair Journey,I would be a terrible person if I give the impression that it has been a flower and rainbow sort of experience. These days there are countless blog post and videos dedicated to this journey whether you opt to do a big chop or transition you can find helpful and relevant insight all over the web.Everyone experience is different however and as such I try to share my experience. There are days when I look at pictures of my healthy, bouncy relaxed hair and think what have I done, then there are other days when I marvel at my hair in its current state. For me natural hair provides versatility. I can go curly, straight , wavy, rock a fro the option are truly endless, However it takes some time and practice but once you get the hang of it you will be on your way.

Senegalese Twist
How many times can I say it ,I love protective styles. This summer I went with Senegalese twist.I opted to use Nappy Annie Barding hair I used about 6 Packs #4. The style took about 6 hours but again this depends on the person doing your hair. Please note that depending on the size of the twist and how your wear and care this style may not last the traditional 4-6 weeks. You can get away with wearing it longer if you opt to re twist, however generally speaking it may last 3-4 weeks.

Road Trip Chronicles
<
Yesterday a few friends and I Journey to Portland for a birthday celebration .We made stops at French Man's Cove and an unplanned stop at the folly ruins .Portland is know for it many beautiful beaches and rivers however there is a lot more to experience.I recently heard the story surrounding this beautiful structure. It was built in the 18 century and sea water was used to construct the massive house. Undoubtedly the house began to crumble ,despite the infrastructural challenges though a great deal of the property still stands today .If you are ever in Portland do check it out. I had an amazing day French man's cove was quite refreshing .After a long hectic week it was amazing to just submerge in the clear blue waters.
This week I also celebrated by 24th birthday. Its crazy to think that I'm already in my mid twenties. How time flies. Grateful for having lived another year, one filled with triumphs ,failures and most importantly lessons. The journey is not in the destination but rather the moments that lead you there.I can honesty see my growth over the past couple of years and for that I am thankful. Here are a few images from our stop at folly.Until next time..........

Mid Year Evaluation
So it’s the 21st of June 2015.This
means two things summer is officially here and secondly approximately six of the twelve months of 2015 have elapsed. I don't know about
you but this year has been a particularly challenging one for me
but alas I press on. I wanted today to do a little evaluation. Most companies
do quarterly or Bi annual evaluation and I believe that we should also employ
this strategy to our personal lives. Do you remember the goals you had on the January
the 1, 2015? Are you any closer to them?
It’s time to ask ourselves a few real
questions.
Where do I spend most of my time/money?
How far am I from the goals I set out
to complete this year?
What are some of the obstacles that
have prevented me from attaining them ?
If you have completed specific goals
What has assisted you in being successful?
If you aren’t where you want to be,
don’t be disheartened you still have six months. Use this evaluation as a
guide. Where are you wasting time and energy .The first step in fixing a
problem is identifying the issues. I know it can be a challenge to many to see
things as they are. Especially if they are not what we want them to be, however
deluding yourself will not change the situation? After identifying the areas
for development the next step is the hardest. Making the relevant change, the
only thing constant is change and if you continue to do what you’ve always done.
You’ll continue to get the same result. Also please do not focus solely on your
shortcoming or the opposite your achievements. Try to list the areas of strength
and weakness. Have a clear and accurate view of your current position so you
can chart a way forward.
I hope this was helpful and I want to encourage
you to keep on working. I will leave with you a few songs of encouragement.

Summer Style 2
If anyone asked what was my go to hairstyle I would definitely say braids. Protective styles are my forte. I love them because they last a reasonably long time and require little maintenance.I have tried almost everyone in the book for the previously mentioned reasons. My favorite is definitely box braids as an employed student I don't have a lot of time and this helps me save on time.

Summer Reading List
Today I wanted to share a few of my favourite books with you, hoping this will inspire you to take up a book or two this summer. Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body. I have always been an avid reader and to be honest it was forced on me as a child however today it’s something I quite enjoy. Gone are the days when reading was limited to having a physical copy of a book there are audio books and app like wattpad that makes keeping up with your reading list that much easier.I will always prefer having the physical book though audio books do have there advantages. Here are a few of my favourite books.

Weekend Recap 3
Hi guys I hope june has been treating you well so far.I also hope that you are excited, for the summer months I will be posting twice weekly. One will be my summer feature, where to go what to do.Basically a how to optimise your summer guide . Now on to the meat of the matter. The other night I went out with a few members of my dance group, and we had a blast.Funny story the headband I wore had dry rotted. The last time I wore it was around my birthday last year. Here how I fixed it. I cut a thin stip out of an old panty hose (stocking) and I tied it to each end of the metal frame it held it in place and blended with my hair. So the next time you are in a similar predicament grab some stockings. For our night out the dress code was maxi heres what I came up with.
this is how I usually style crop tops with a maxi or high waisted skirt |

It doesn't have to be somewhere new or expensive. Also if you have nieces, nephews or younger siblings take them a long and get some bonding time in as well.

Advice to Transitioners
Going natural is definitely trending, having been on this journey for the past year and a half I believe I have some insight that may be helpful. The first and most valuable lesson I have learnt is have a plan.If you want to go natural know exactly what you are going to do with your hair. That can be anything ,from getting braids ,doing the big chop ect, I failed on my first attempt because I just didn't know what to do to my hair.
Secondly you cannot use every single product, slow and steady wins the race.If you decide to grow your hair out your priority will not be curls or length at first. Healthy hair should be your goal as a result your focus should not be on styling rather you should try to focus on creating and maintaining a routine. This routine first must be about the process wash ,deep condition and moisturize. Once you've formulated a routine you can then seek products to assist.

Afro's And Neon
To think that not too long ago I could not understand why people wore shift dress. I stand her today telling you that this dress made me a convert(thanks sis).I had no intention of blogging this outfit but based on the response I decided to. I felt very 70's the curly fro ,neon shift dress and the bright clutch really finished off this look.A shift dress is perfect for those days when its quite hot and you rather wear something thats not clingy (everyday here).I find that they are perfect when you are in a hurry this one in particular comes with a faux necklace, ready to go.

The decathlon called life
So the first half of 2015 has come and gone.Where are you now? I hope you are still working toward those goals you made at the beginning of the year . If not.... why? Even if you dropped off you can get back up.The last couple of months have been rough for me ,many disappointment but still I press.I want this post to encourage someone to get up an keep going. Anything worth having will not come easy. I like to view obstacles as preparation for the future. For me life is a decathlon, the only difference is that we are not sure what test we will get, like a goody bag of challenges, our challenges I like to think are tied to our goals and personalities. In that if you are impatient you will be tested to help you improve that. But I encourage you remain committed to your goals after all aren't you the one who set those goals. If you want good you nose affi run a Jamaican proverb that simply means that success demands hard work. Strive to be disciple , remain focus and prioritise. What may seem like the best option today may not be the best thing in the long run. Don't be short sighted.with that I wish you all a productive week.
