Summer Reading List

Today I wanted to share a few of my favourite books with you, hoping this will inspire you to take up a book or two this summer. Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body. I have always been an avid reader  and to be honest it was forced on me as a child however  today it’s something I quite enjoy. Gone are the days when reading was limited to having a physical copy of a book there are audio books and app like wattpad that makes keeping up with your reading list that much easier.I will always prefer having the physical book though audio books do have there advantages. Here are a few of my favourite books.

The Alchemist

Undoubtedly one of my favourites, the alchemist is a book about going after what you want .It is honest, thought provoking and spiritual. It follows the life of a Spanish boy in search of his personal treasure. Santiago is someone anyone can relate to. An individual whose dreams are far beyond his means. If you want to be inspired this is the perfect book.

Anne Frank the Diary of a Young Girl

I must admit this one took some time for me to read. Several months but it was worth it. It left me in tears (I am super teary when it comes to books and movies). Anne was a girl beyond her years. If you like history and true stories this is perfect for you. Anne a young Jewish girls shares her story about being a Jew and living in hiding. In my opinion it is a must read.

The fault in our stars

So I’m sure you’ve heard of this one. Another one that has left me in tears. The fault in our starts is about two cancer patients that fell in love. It’s also about living your life to the fullest, living without limitations even when life has imposed limits. It is an inspiration and a reminder to not let fear hinder achieving one's goals.

When mi was a boy

So I knew the cover of this book was yellow but it’s been a number of years since I’ve seen my cover. I love this book it’s an easy read and it is hilarious. I love Charles Hyatt. My family also loves this book. My nieces and nephew often ask me to read a chapter or two. Again I will stress it is an easy read, short chapters. If you want to learn about growing up in Jamaica this is the perfect book. My favourite chapter is suck suck and Mawga lion. I also believe that this is perfect for children, If you are a Jamaican residing overseas " get you a copy!!" Had a long day and need a laugh ,When mi was a bwoy is sure to give you a few.

These are just a few books i enjoyed reading. feel free to share some of your favourites.

Until next time ........
Blessing
