Healthy Hair Journey #2: Curls

It's been about a year since I've been on this transitioning journey and to date I have one go to style, the same style I had when my hair was relaxed.I am not sure where or when I stopped doing  my curling techniques .I made an effort for  the month march to weekly do one of the following.I hope you find it helpful.

Perm Rods & Natural Hair: Which Size Will Create Your Desired Look?
Perm Rod Set
Perm rod curl sizes. I love this easy and quick visual to clearly see which size perm rods will deliver the results that you want.
As you can see perm rods  come in a wide variety of sizes and colours, the bigger the rod the looser the curl. There are tons of Instagram and Pinterst post as well as Youtube videos that explaining in great detail how to get this right.ONE HUGE TIP I'll give however ,do not do this on wet hair it takes forever to dry  for best results start on dry hair with just enough product to set the style(don't drench the hair with products).

I know we all know this technique ,but I  don't even know when I stopped doing this immediately after I washed my hair .But if you haven't in a while try it and see what you come up with.Twist outs work out much better for me and I often add Perm rods to the ends to achieve my desired look.

Curl Former
The newest addition to my techniques arsenal. Not the easiest thing to sleep in oreven install, but it produces the best curls ever. It may take trial and error to get the formers in firmly but once you've gotten the hang of it ,you'll have soft bouncy curls in no time.
Tip: use small section. for me when I tried to use medium section my  hair would unravel and the former would not go in securely often time the stick would get stuck in my hair and that can be a annoying and painful ordeal.

Bantu Knots set (take down)

Bantu Knots
or Chinney bump as its popularly called is another go to curl technique,I have  definitely gotten better over time. One tick that I have acquired,if you have done a twist out and there are small sections that are not cooperating ,you can do Bantu knots and in a few minutes they will blend seamlessly with the rest of your curls.

I decided to brush  the set and do a updo Results)

Products Used:
Eco Styler Gel
Cantu Shea Butter Leave in Conditioner
Coconut Oil

These technique do  not only work on transitioning or natural hair ,so if you have a little time on your hands and want to switch up your look try one.

Until next time

Blessing
