Advice to Transitioners

http://niketalatoyahill.blogspot.com

Going natural is definitely trending,  having been on this journey for the past year and a half  I believe I have some insight that may be helpful. The first and most valuable lesson I have learnt is have a plan.If you want to go natural know exactly what you are going to do with your hair. That can be  anything ,from getting braids ,doing the big chop ect, I failed on my first attempt because I just didn't know what to do to my hair.
Secondly you cannot use every single product, slow and steady wins the race.If you decide to grow your hair out your priority will not be curls or length at first. Healthy hair should be your goal as a result your focus should not be on styling rather you should try to focus on creating and maintaining a routine. This routine first must be about the process wash ,deep condition and moisturize. Once you've formulated a routine you can then seek products to assist.

Technique is extremely important, once you have grown out majority of your hair, your may want to learn how to style this new texture.Styling again in my opinion is more Important than the products.I have grown to love my perm rods, however my styling technique process was an irritating one at first I could not get my hair to look remotely similar to the  girls on IG or those in the YouTube videos I watched. There where many many fails but now I have a few techniques in my arsenal. It is important to remember that this is a learning process and it will take time ,practice makes perfect be prepared for some failure but who knows you may just nail it at your first attempt.I also believe that it is very important to research and plan before hand.I can recall not too long ago being extremely frustrated. Transitioning isn't  for everyone but if you commit to it you can do it.
Also everyone has different views and techniques over time seek to formulate your own.For me I would periodically clip my process ends because I was not fond of going natural and having a TWA maybe I missed out on the joy of funky cuts but at the time I could not fathom having my hair like that.In addition to all this I want to encourage you to go for what you want, if I had a dollar for every time I received unsolicited advice about my hair I would be a billionaire. My advice is if you like it roll with it.The world is fill with critics ,those who can't do speak my encouragement to you and to be honest myself is a soft answer turneth away wrath.

I hope someone found this helpful. If you are a trasitioner feel free to share your own tips and tricks and struggles. In addition I have a pintrest board dedicated to healthy hair take a look.

Until next time....

Blessing
