Ready ....Set.....Almost go time

With just five days left in 2014 many of us are  evaluating the past year and making preparations for the coming one. If you have completed this task kudos to you and if you don't believe in setting new years resolution's you can always break them down in smaller monthly goals. I have always planned and set goals for myself, for as long as I can remember.Back in high school my plans and goals use to be quite daunting, though I achieved many of them in the long run, at that time I had not yet garnered the concept of short term and long  term goals and as a result I use to get quite disheartened when I saw that I have goals and plans that where simply not coming to fruition.
Today I will share a few tips I've picked up over the years as it relates to planning. In order to effectively plan and carry out that which we have planned there are a few things we need to do. They are Observe , Reflect and focus.
Observe , we need to look around and looking within ,what is it that I need to improve on,How can I do better in this area of my life. In order to identify what we need to do we need to have a clear vision of where we are and where we need to be.
Reflect, look back on the approach taken thus far. What have I been doing, did it help me in accomplishing what I need to get done.In order to move forward we have to reflect and take notes form the past.
Finally the most important and undoubtedly the most challenging part reaming focus. It so hard to keep focus on our goal. For me I want to eat clean but every day I have to see chocolate and sweets and ice cream and thought the heart is willing the flesh is weak. being focus is super hard there are so many distractions around. Simply goals like eating properly become a task. However half the battle is in the mind. Remind yourself of the reason for this goal ,write it out ,place it some where you can see. Focus is a mental function, there fore we have to visaulize overcoming the challenges.
I hope this was helpful and I wish you all the best for 2015 .

Christmas Message

On today the eve of Christmas 2014, I wish you a Merry Christmas. I pray that no matter the year, month, week , day  that you've had ,leading up to this very moment . That you will be able to enjoy the holidays. Spend it with people that you love,Enjoy every moment of it. Often what we look back and regret in life is not the event that we didn't attend or that thing we should of bought. However we truly regret the time we missed with the ones that matter most. So make a call send an email, write on someone's wall.Make today, tomorrow and the rest of the season memorable.
I wish to you and yours a Merry Christmas. Above all take time out to remember the reason for the season. For god so loved the world that he sent his only begotten son, that whoso ever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.Again I wish you a prosperous Christmas season.

♡ A few of my Favorite things #1

Lately I have been loving these things. Firstly I have been trying to take better care of my skin,I try my best to cleanse, tone and moisturize, for the most part I have been doing a decent job to stick to this routine which I do twice  daily.I am on my second bottle of the Neutrogena Healthy Skin , it has SPF 15 and multi-vitamins. What I love about it is the fact that a little goes a long way and it has a pump . It recommends that you use two pumps and often times I use one, believe it or not one pump covers my face and my neck. The only issue you may facewith this moisturizer is that it may burn slightly at first.
Secondly I am in LOVE with L'Oreal True match I have it in W8 Creme Cafe. It blends like a dream and with my Cala beauty blending sponge I have been able to achieve full coverage and a natural look. Nobody is trying to look like they are wearing a mask been there done that!Haven't we all though? I Know I am not alone. But I do believe I have found my holy grail foundation.
Now on to my favorite lipsticks.lipsticks. Tis the season for plum lips , I have been loving Egg Plant #20 from Jordana it is a plum colour that smells divine and I like that it is not too dark , It is a matte lipstick and is semi long wearing. I recently picked up Wet & Wild 913C sand storm which is a beautiful mauve nude tone on me. Prior to getting this I use to Use 900B Pink Suga all the time ho\w ever I always have to wear a mauve lip liner or it would come off to light for my liking but with sand storm I dont need a lip liner I can wear it alone and it is he perfect mauvey nude for my skin tone.

If you have used any of the product mentioned let me know how you like them.

Transitioning Hair Regiment Part 2

Healthy relaxed hair June 2013
Healthy hair is not about products, it is a combination of products and practices that compliment each other and aid in the growth strengthening and maintenance of your hair. Last week I introduced the range of products I have been using on my hair. This week i"ll look at some of the practices I have adopted.
  • Firstly I have started using a wide tooth comb in addition to this I have  been using water on my hair before I apply any product.
  • I have also established a time table which stipulates when  I wash and deep condition , for me planning  a specific time  helps me immensely. I use to wash my hair every other week and deep condition when I felt like.Structure is important in any journey. Therefore to ensure that you keep up I encourage stetting up a schedule not only for washing and treating but also protective style , when you'll get them how long it will last etc. I repeat structure is important especially when transitioning if you fail to plan you may end up getting a relaxer like I did in my first attempt.
  • Also know your hair needs everyone hair is different build a regiment around your specific needs.
  • Wear styles that do not overly strain edges or require frequent manipulation.
  •  Less heat, less is definitely more in this case, less heat more growth more length retention.
  • cover hair at night, what every state your hair is in relaxed or natural always wear a head tie or bonnet.
  • Be patient , remember its a journey its going to take some time to get there.
  • Access periodically . are the products and practices being used getting me to my goal? if not go back to the drawing board.
I wish you all the luck on your hair journey. Also these are just a few tips feel free to do your own research or follow my hair journey board on Pinterest.

Transitioning Hair Regiment

All the product I am currently using on my hair
Early this year I decided that I would go on a hair Journey. The last time I relaxed my hair was in April, since then I've mainly worn protective styles such as braids and  faux locs . In addition I have been trying out products along the way. I have adopted the LOC method and finally have acquired a few products that I believe will assist me in attaining my hair goals .Today I will be sharing part one of my transitioning journey.During the time when I decided to go natural,I started to do some research , based on this research I have chosen the products presented here today.I wanted a group of product that would nourish and strengthen my coloured relaxed hair.I beleive that these will do just that.

I wanted to avoid using product with harsh chemical that would ultimately strip my hair of  its natural oils and it led me to this line this is my first time using Shea moisture but from my research they are a reputable brand and I believe it will help restore my hair.

This product came highly recommended, almost every transitioning and natural video or article I  watched or read I stumbled upon the Cantu Shea Butter Leave In Conditioner.I love the smell and the texture. My mother has natural hair andI was plesantly suprised when I apply this to her hair, curls instantly formed. I know that this product will be sticking and staying also I know that this jar will last and last .

Old faithful, my mother use to use castor oil in my hair years ago and not too long ago I returned to this miracle product. Castor oil is an essential oil for all hair type I personally use mine on my edges when necessary and monthly  to steam my hair.It is an extremely thick oil so use sparingly also I ensure that it is a 100℅ and salt free, be careful when purchasing castor oil  because oils that used salt as a preservative will have an adverse effect to hair growth. This is my first time using Tropical Isle but I've seen it all over natural hair blogs and its made right here in Jamaica.

Another product that needs no introduction Eco Styler Gel.I love this stuff .I have used the Krysal and the Olive oil for some reason I see the Argan oil in stores however when i'm ready to purchase they are all out I'm on my second jar and I decided that for my third I would get the largest size .

In addition to these product I just use water in a spray bottle with aloe vera gel and all natural shea butter when needed. For any additional info feel free to comment below.

So this is my new regiment I will do an update soon.
Until  next time XOXO

Healthy Hair Journey:Faux Locs Review

One of my favorite looks simple bun and my stylist @mel_jdion (instagram)
Unequivocally my favorite protective style to date. I am a huge fan of protective styles in general prior to my current style box braids where my favorite. However I can  proudly say Faux Loc's are my new obsession. This will definitely not be my last encounter with this style.Today I will share with you how I achieved this style and the pros and cons of Faux Locs.

  • Time: The process took approximately 8 1/2 hours.
  • Hair: My hair was first twisted with Nappy Annie brading hair and then wrapped with the afro Kinky/Jamaican Kinky Marley hair.In total 3 packs of Nappy Annie was used and 5 packs Marley hair(four brown and one red/burgundy mixture).

Ya Man Afro Kinky Braid #4 & Vivica A Fox Jamaican Kinky Marley Braid #132

The completed look

Pros:
  1. Generally the hair is easy to style and prevents me from contending with my hair on a daily basis.
  2. Low maintenance, I mainly wear my hair in updos and often times I don't have to redo it every day.Example if I put  my hair in a bun it can stay for a few day mainly all I have to do daily is tame my edges.
  3. It looks real, I love how natural it looks.
  4. Its a conversation starter ,though this style has been around for a good while many people are still unaware and are fascinated and want more information .
  5. I LOVE IT, simply because it suits me , I'm in love

Cons:
  1. Washing your hair becomes the  most complex task in the world.Finding a way to clean you hair without hassle is extremely difficult.
  2. Itching for the first week or so the hair itched slightly. However there was one particular day when I actually contemplated removing my Locs but I consulted my trusty Youtube and found the solution in one of my faves ACV, apple cider vinegar and warm water rub on the scalp then apply oil.
  3. The weight depending on the amount of hair used it may initially seem a bit heavy ,especially the first time you do updos.

Today November 8,2014, approximately 4 weeks since I have been wearing my locs

Beginners Make up Guide

I recently had a conversation with a few friends,we were talking about what I was wearing(make up) the specific products I use,how I started using them, how I achieved a natural look and so on.As the conversation developed I was more and more interested and some what surprised. Not too long ago I was in a similar place, not everyone learns about these things from their mothers or older sister (my mother does not wear make up and my sisters and I don't live in the same time zone)So I had to learn on my own thankful Youtube and Pintrest exist. I decided to share my top products for beginners. First thing first, the most important thing is the canvas your face.Ensure that you are starting off on clean moisturized skin (especially for those with dry skin moister is extremely important).Skin care generally is important and before we even consider makeup we should have a skin regiment. In my opinion the most important product is concealer.Concealer comes in several forms and is used for as the name suggest concealing. Covering blemishes, dark circles, highlighting, contour, evening out skin tone the works. With a good concealer you may not need foundation.Currently my favorite is the LA Girl Proconceal which I have in a variety of shades. It is very affordable, easy to use and comes in a variety of shades.I often times use it on its own to brighten and conceal.

Brown Pencil/Brow Powder Brows can make or break your look, and in recent times they have become a priority of makeup lovers.I'm sure we've all seen some crazy bold brows walking around concealed to the T and i'm sure we want to avoid being a casualies of the brow game.I have had my fair share of brow no nos and I have pics to prove it lol but I will not be sharing. The most important thing to remember is that you are filling in the sparse areas in your brows everyone does it differently, our brows are all different and another important thing to note is that both brows will not always look identical (one Youtubers says our brows are cousins and not sisters) so if one looks slightly different from the other it ok don't sweat it. To start out you can try any brow pencil or powder or even a brown matte eye shadow that matches or is close to your brow colour. You may also want to get a spoolie which is a little rounded brush .which you will use to evenly distribute brow .

Powder Starting off you are experimenting with what works for you,You want to try a few product so lets keep it simply to set that concealer you want to get a powder one that matches your skin tone and you want to just lightly tap that in the areas that you applied concealer(forehead,Under your eyes,Nose e.c.t) Do take caution when applying powder it can give you a cakey look so be sure to find one that is close to your complesion and use a light hand. Next week we'll look at three more product.See you then :).
