Few of my Favorite Things #2 Hair Care

The braids are out, yet again so i'm back to contending  with my hair,March 2014 was the last time I had  a relaxer, so its been about a year that I've been on this natural  hair journey. I've definitely learnt a few tips and tricks along the way.Today I will share a few things that I have used I  use in my hair care routine.

Rosemary
Rosemary is a herb that is often used for making tea or seasoning food. in addition to its culinary purposes it can be used in hair and skin care. in recent months.I have done a rosemary wash twice before installing my Senegalese twist in the end of January and right after taking it out about a week ago.Rosemary has been used for centuries as a cure for hair loss and to treat scalp,it is a excellent clarifying wash.I know one issue I've faced is product build up.I no longer use sulfate shampoo as they dry out my hair.In order to ensure that my hair and scalp is thoroughly clean I have decided to use rosemary monthly as a clarifying wash.

How to use:
Wash rosemary
Add it to  a pot of hot water.Let it come to a boil.
Leave it to cool,
Rinse hair (you can also add apple cider vinegar to this mix and leave on hair for about 5 minutes)

Benefits:
Combats hair loss,
Cleaning agent with anti inflammatory purposes.
Aromatherapy

I encourage you to read up on rosemary, especially if you have eczema or other skin issues.

 Oils
By now you have seen how important it is to add a oil  to your skin and hair care routine. I also hope that you have seen although this post is mainly about hair care the items being mentioned can also help with skin care.three oils I use in my hair and skin care regimen are Castor oil,Coconut oil and Tea tree oil.
How to use:
 Castor Oil:
Castor oil form the base of my deep conditioner, I try to this every month.Even when I am using my raw Shea Butter deep treatment mask ,I add a bit of castor oil for good measure. In rennet times I've seen where it is used on the eye lashes and brows to promote growth.

Coconut Oil;
Another of my favorite oils, I use this mainly as a leave in or sealant. This is added after my  leave in conditioner to seal the moister in.Coconut oil is also my favorite when it comes to make up removal add a little to a wipe or cotton pad and wipe everything a way TRY IT ,it works like a dream.I also use this for a little added sun screen as it has spf qualities.

 Tea Tree Oil:
This I use mainly for my skin care but I decided to include it none the less.Tea tree is a natural healer. It is excellent to combat acne prone skin and irritation in general it is a very strong oil and can be added to hair care products.

I hope that you learned a thing or two as well as  I hope I encouraged you to do a bit of research to find out what you can add to your hair and skin care .These product often form the base of many of the store bough products we love ,using them in their natural state gives us the full array of benefits.I encourage to add at least one  oil or herb to you hair care. Until next time....
