Happy Planner

This time of year is generally a time of reflection and refocusing. This is the time when many of us reflect on the year that is coming to an end and plan what we want for the year to come. I am a firm believer that things worth having seldom come by chance, so I ensure that I decide what I want to do and strive to make time to get it done. One way I achieve this is making a note of my things.

This planner can be purchased at Michael's and  currently  the site has a 50% off promotion ongoing.
I want to quickly mention that this planner is undated but comes with a few stickers which include month and dates.Generally, I use my planner to note day to day thing, meeting, bills, events.Everything and anything really it helps me to keep abreast of everything that is going on and in some ways keeps me accountable.

Best Food In Kingston

Restaurant week 2016 is upon and what better time to share my favorite places to have a meal. One of many things Jamaica is known for is its superb cuisine. So lets get right to it sharing a few of the places I love to dine.

M10 Bar and Grill

This is definitely one of my favorite places. I believe that this is also a very versatile spot. I took my niece here for her 16th birthday dinner. I've been here with friends for a girls night out as well as on other occasions and every time I've been I have always left highly satisfied, with the food, with the service, with the ambiance. All in all a  great place to eat. An outdoor setting with a different menu every night you are guaranteed to find something you love and lastly very reasonable price point.

South Avenue Grill

Undoubtedly one of favorite places to eat. I have never been disappointed here, I think this is the ideal date night venue.Beautiful garden outdoor setting. Amazing food and service and the menu has something for everyone's taste. The perfect setting for a great relaxed evening.

Hair Goals

My last goal concerning my hair, I have achievedIt was what seems to be a common goal for many black women todaygoing naturalPossible one of the most challenging things to dobut thankfully I have ticked that check box many moonsSo it's time for a new goalI have long had an obsession with hair colour and trying many stylessome of which resulted in damage to my hairFor the next year or so I'm committing to doing the following:
  1. Taking hair vitamins.I have decided to take biotin 5000 mcg daily.
  2. No bleach dye or other harsh chemicals.
  3. Limiting heats, I do not own a flat iron and I hardly blow dry so I  just need to continue in this area.
  4. Protective styles, another thing I already do,at least once ever three months to give my hair a break.
  5. Be gentle with my hair and follow my regiment. Weekly cleansing and deep conditioning method etc.

With the hope that I will have longer, healthier, stronger here in the end.Stay tuned for updates.

Journey East

Hello,so much has happened since  I last posted.I do sincerely apologize for the inconsistency. One of my favorite hobbies is exploring my island home off the beaten track yesterday I had the opportunity to do just that and I had a blast. St. Thomas is definitely one parish that I have not fully explore.Yesterday's journey took us to the hidden gem,Reggae falls. It's a little different from your typical fall in that there is a lot of mist,it's like walking in the rain once you get within 150 meters of the fall.I strongly recommend this one.Be mindful that it will take some time to get there but it is  worth the journey.

Until next time.

Back to Basics

If we are not careful our lives can become a constant race, getting this thing then on to the next, This definitely isn't a bad thing. You want to set goals in order to get things done. You want to continuously surprise yourself and encourage others to do the same. However life is much more than achieving things.

I have always held the view that the most important thing in life is being a friend, making positive, memorable marks on the ones that are nearest and dearest to us. Today I want to simply remind myself and you that if we achieve all our goals and end up alone, we haven't really won. Be sure to appreciate the genuine people that represent in your life. Those that motivate you, who have been there from the beginning, who are currently helping you along the way. At the end of the day what matters is the lives we've touched and not the things that we have gained. Happy Sunday everyone and have an amazing week. Until next time...

Hello Last Quarter

Hello September ,the care free summer months are now behind us and for many of us its back to reality. We are in the last quarter of 2016 and I wanted to take today to refocus.Where are you in terms of your goals for this year.Today I simply want to encourage to strive for better.Daily,weekly.Set small goals and try to do and be more with each passing day. Focus on the things and people that matter most.Find the areas of your life where you are wasting valuable time, energy and resources and seek to fill those holes.Live your best life you owe it to yourself to be the best version of yourself and most importantly enjoy the journey. Until next time.

Key to Amazing Hair

Recently  I have been getting a lot of questions about how I maintain my hair.I think the most important thing if you are trying to grow , maintain or repair your hair is to one find what works for your hair and construct a routine.Since embarking on this natural journey I have developed a regiment. Depending on the needs of my hair from time to time products have changed. However the techniques remain the same.
The first step in my opinion is to examine your hair.start by asking what is my current issue. For me a current issue is reducing frizz,to tackle this issue I need to first identify what causes the frizz and then seek to lessen the causes lastly I may try to find a product that aids in eliminating frizz.

Summer Adventure: Portland Jamaica

Hello beautiful people,It is no secret that Portland is my favorite parish,Yesterday we ventured to Winifred Beach & Blue Lagoon. What an eventful day it turned out to be,The first stop was Winifred beach,There isn't a cost to enter the beach ,however you can make a contribution towards its upkeep.
The beach is well kept, and its a good location for a group outing ,The sign however to direct you to the beach is not very visible ,so do slow down and don't be afraid to ask for directions.

Jamaica Independence Celebration 2016

Yesterday August 6,2016 was Jamaica's 54th year of Independence. I had the  privilege of attending the celebration and I had a wonderful time, for me the highlight was Kevin Downswell's performance. Here are a  few pictures from my evening. Before I go, I want to encourage you if you've never been to try to go at least once and take a child or a teen with you.One of the most memorable Gala's I took my nephews and they had a great time. They both reside outside of Jamaica and I am am very pleased  that when I had the chance I ensured that I exposed them to several aspects of their culture.
